BSDC Instructor Training Program
Welcome to the BSDC Latin, African & Cultural Dance Institute's Instructor Training Program. This program is meticulously designed to equip aspiring instructors with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in teaching Latin dance styles, with a focus on Salsa Level 101.
Program Overview:
Our comprehensive training program is structured into three phases, each focusing on different aspects of dance instruction:
Phase 1: Initial Training (32 hours)
- Theory Sessions: Explore the fundamentals of Latin dance, including its rich history, culture, and basic Salsa techniques.
- Hands-On In-Class Training: Develop skills in footwork, lead, and follow partnerwork techniques under the guidance of experienced BSDC instructors.
- Assist with Studio Classes: Gain practical experience by assisting in studio classes, events, and workshops.
Phase 2: Additional Training (24 hours)
- Theory Sessions: Enhance your understanding of Salsa and other dance styles through personalized private training sessions with the BSDC School Director.
- Private Training: Receive tailored instruction to refine your dance skills and teaching abilities.
Phase 3: Certification and Ongoing Development (32 hours)
- Teaching Experience: Complete a minimum of 32 hours of class training to prepare for independent teaching.
- Additional Training: Achieve certification in higher levels or other dance styles by completing 24 hours of training per level or style.
Training Components:
- Warm-Ups: Master effective warm-up routines to prepare students for dance sessions.
- Footwork: Learn foundational footwork patterns essential for Salsa dancing.
- Partner Work: Develop proficiency in lead and follow techniques to create seamless connections with partners.
- Customer Service: Understand the importance of providing excellent customer service to enhance the student experience.
- Different Teaching Environments: Adapt your teaching style for various settings, including clubs, studios, and parties.
- Tips for Beginners: Gain strategies for effectively teaching beginners and fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Tactful Correction: Learn how to provide constructive feedback and correct students tactfully to encourage growth and improvement.
- Creating Your Teaching Style: Explore ways to develop your unique teaching style and personality as an instructor.
