BIO: Andres was born in Queens, New York and has always enjoyed music and dance ever since he was 5. While studying at the University of Florida, he stumbled upon taking salsa classes at a local studio in Gainesville. He first learned and taught Rueda de Casino in Gainesville, FL but has grown to love and appreciate all other styles of latin dance such as New York Style (On2), social Cha-Cha-Cha, and Argentine Tango. Over the years, Andres has taught salsa at various studios throughout the state of Florida (Pembroke Pines, Gainesville, and Jacksonville to name a few) and is now currently teaching in Baltimore, Maryland. Andres’ main philosophy in dance is that everything is derived from basic fundamentals. His level of technicality, emphasis on connection, and attention to detail is what makes him most notable on the dance floor! Even though he currently teaches both On1 and On2, he still gravitates to his origins of Cuban Style Salsa and loves to give back to the dancing community through his classes, workshops, and other dance related events. Fun facts: Andres graduated from the University of Florida with a double Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Before dancing, he was really big into skateboarding and would spend hours learning new tricks and tips. Current interests/hobbies include hiking, Strength and Conditioning (S&C), and Obstacle Course Races (OCRs)

Meet Manuel Caceres, our newest addition to the BSDC Salsa instructor team! Originally from El Salvador, Central America, Manuel's artistic journey began at a young age, immersing himself in music and Latin dance groups in his homeland. Bio:
Sylvia comes to us from Denver, Colorado where she danced salsa for many years. She has fond musical memories from her childhood…from dancing Mexican corridos in the kitchen with her dad, to balancing on her grandfather’s feet while dancing to classic salsa and swimming in his extensive vinyl collection where she was exposed to music from around the world.
Always drawn to rhythmic and soulful music, she cherishes the time she spent singing in the Pentecostal church as a young girl. In addition to dancing and singing, she has continued to pursue her musical interests to include learning and playing Afro-Latin rhythms on the conga drums and other percussion. After a long break from dancing, she recently resumed and remembered her passion and desire to teach salsa. As an instructor she hopes to share her belief that anyone can learn to dance.
Sylvia has been living in Maryland with her husband and son for the past 15 years. She enjoys her job as an instructional technologist in Baltimore. Her other hobbies and interests include: attending comic book conventions with her family, exercising, practicing meditation and self-reflection, and exploring other creative outlets. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with a minor in Spanish Language from Metropolitan State College of Denver. She is excited to share her passion for salsa and looks forward to continued learning to build her skill, both as a dancer and instructor, at BSDC.
